Oxford Instruments sets out routemap to net zero
Leading high technology provider Oxford Instruments plc has confirmed its route to net zero, setting science-based targets and action plans to reduce emissions from its own operations and those of its supply chain.
The company has committed to reach net zero in all the areas under its direct control by 2030, and across all its operations, including its supply chain, by 2045. These ambitious targets will see Oxford Instruments achieving its carbon reduction goals five years ahead of the UK government’s national target.
Oxford Instruments has now made a public commitment to setting near- and long-term company-wide emission reductions targets with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and submitted them for validation. A leading corporate climate action organisation, SBTi has made a powerful call for companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combatting the climate crisis.
Oxford Instruments’ plans are set out in its newly published Net Zero Transition Plan, compiled in accordance with the guidelines set out by the Transition Plan Taskforce.
Richard Tyson, CEO, said:
“We all have a role to play in tackling climate change, and we’re committed to playing our part at Oxford Instruments. Indeed, our purpose is to accelerate the breakthroughs that create a brighter future for our world.
"Our products are helping leading academic and commercial researchers to discover and bring to market sustainable solutions to the global challenges we face. We want to ensure our own operations and our supply chain are sustainable too. That’s why we are committed to building on the emissions reductions we have made to date, and achieving our ambitious net zero targets.”
