Andor announces charity partnership with Cancer Fund for Children

Oxford Instruments, Andor is excited to announce a new charity partnership with Cancer Fund for Children, a fantastic charity who provide essential support to children and young people impacted by cancer.

Cancer Fund for Children’s team of Cancer Support Specialists deliver emotional, social and therapeutic support to families, at home, in hospital and at the charity’s short break centre, Daisy Lodge. Their ethos has remained constant – to develop and deliver services and help ensure no child faces cancer alone.

Cancer Fund for Children was chosen as Oxford Instruments, Andor’s Charity of the Year after being nominated by staff member Desmond McCabe. Dessie said:

“I have been raising money for Cancer Fund for Children for a few years now. Some people like myself may have a personal connection to the cause through a loved one who has battled cancer, so is a great way to make a difference in the lives of children and families facing one of the toughest times that I could never imagine. Fundraising activities also help to raise awareness about childhood cancer, leading to earlier detection, meaning some families can hopefully catch it on time.

Natalia Kettle, HR Manager at OI, Andor, added:

“We are incredibly proud and excited to be partnering with such a dedicated charity, to raise awareness and funds for this vital cause. Almost everyone has been affected by cancer, either personally or through a loved one, so we feel it is incredibly important to get involved and provide support where we can.”

Staff at OI, Andor have already started their fundraising campaign, having completed the Belfast City Marathon relay in May, which raised an incredible £4000, as well as various occasions such as a Sunflower Event where staff who donated were given a sunflower to plant and take home.

Lisa Hartle, Partnership and Philanthropy Executive at Cancer Fund for Children said:

“We are so grateful to the incredible team at Andor for choosing us as their charity partner so that we can continue to provide vital support to families when they need it most.

This wonderful organisation has already embraced fundraising, from tackling the Belfast Marathon to organising coffee mornings and volunteering to collect at events. We’re excited to continue working with them throughout this partnership to bring their fundraising ideas to life so together, we can help ensure no child faces cancer alone.”

This partnership reflects our commitment to making a meaningful difference in our community, and by working together, we aim to support those impacted by cancer and ensure no one faces this challenge alone.
