International Conference on Quantum Fluids and Solids

The QFS conference began in 1975, shortly after the discovery of superfluid 3He. Since 1997, its location alternates between North America, Europe and Asia. The subject of the QFS series is quantum phenomena in materials, with a focus on liquid and solid helium, but including other related systems such as trapped cold atoms and recent developments and interdisciplinary applications in other areas of physics. These include topics such as topological materials, Kosterlitz-Thouless transitions, Bose-Einstein condensation, Majorana fermions, defects and phase transitions that are central to quantum fluids and solids but also have applications in other areas of condensed matter, cosmology and particle physics.

The regular QFS series of meetings plays a crucial role by regularly bringing together the entire quantum fluids and solids research community, to meet researchers in other disciplines in an informal setting and discuss the latest development. The synergy between traditional and new research areas is encouraged by the continuing QFS conference series and is enhanced by its strong tradition of including young researchers – graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
