Wear Particle Analysis for Jet Engine Monitoring

As a jet engine wears during use, small wear particles get trapped in oil filters which can be analysed using SEM/EDS. By monitoring engine wear in such a way, maintenance personnel can predict engine failure and prevent costly repairs. AZtecFeature allows the automated detection and measurement of the composition and morphology of wear particles in the SEM. Classification schemes can be customised to different engine types and custom report templates can be generated.
